Adding Freight/Delivery to Your Quote

Promodata does not currently contain freight rates from suppliers (flat rate or other wise)

This guide shows you how to add Delivery, Freight, Logistics & Courier costs to your quote

To start, you need to create the Freight item for your Vendor/Supplier in your database. – Read More on this here>>>

Tip: Be sure to create the Freight item as an Add-On and Standalone item

The reason we associate Freight with a supplier is so that it then automatically appears on the correct PO when the sale is approved.

Once the Freight item is created, you can add it to the product being quoted as a line item. This will be in the Freight tab when you Add Pricing to an item in your quote.

By default this cost will be rolled into the unit price and the client will not see it on their quote.

Separate Freight Cost

If you want the client to be able to see the Freight cost, there are 2 ways this can be done

Add a Row to the Pricing Table

You can use the Add Row function to display it in a separate row in the price table for the product. This is in the Appearance on Quote section for the item being quoted.

Click +Add Row and you will be presented with a list of the line items that make up your product pricing – and – a new row in the quote appearance.

Simply drag the delivery item components you wish to itemise into the drag and drop box – then nominate if you wish to display a Unit price – and – give your new line a descriptor/heading.

Freight as a Separate Product on the Quote

Provided the Freight item you wish to use has Standalone selected, you can also quote this like any other product in your Quote (You may want to add an image though)

To do this, Add an Item to Quote and navigate to the Services tab in your catalogue to select the correct logistics item, or do a search. The catalogue Vendor filters also work here to help you isolate the correct freight service.

Adding Freight as a separate item in your quote gives you additional control over margins applied. It is also an easier way to quote for a consolidate shipment that you may be sending from your warehouse of fulfillment centre.

Unknown or Variable Freight Costs

When a supplier’s freight costs change with each order, the best practice is to create a versatile “ad-hoc” freight item for that vendor.

Using an ad-hoc item acts as a placeholder, allowing you to manually enter the precise cost for each individual quote. For full instructions, please see our guide on – Read more about creating adhoc items here>>>

Tip: If you want to only see Supplier specific freight options when quoting their products – select If add on, can only be used with items from this vendor when creating the freight item.

This way freight for Supplier A will not be an available option when quoting an item from Supplier B.
