Filter by Date

Brandengine has a very comprehensive and flexible Date Filter module that allows for diverse date range configurations for reporting, WIPs and other information requirements.

The Filter by Date module populates our powerful Custom View functionality which allows you to build (and save) specific reports for the demands of your role or business.

When accessing a date filter, you will be presented with the below dialogue where you are given the ability to configure your date range in 3 different ways – or start with available presets.

Tip ~
The result of your date range “formula” is displayed at the top of the dialogue box. Any Relative date settings use “today’s” date as the reference for calculating the dates displayed.

Exact Date

Use this when a specific period in time is required.
eg – a report on Enquiries received from July 1st, to September 30th.

Relative Date

The creates a “rolling” date setting in relation to the date the report is viewed
eg – the below is for a Sales report that only displays the current months invoices.
As today’s date is Sept 18, the date range example at the top references the whole month of September

The 3 selectable dropdowns provide prompts to build your date formula

  • First day of, Last day of
  • last, this, next
  • day, week, month, quarter, financial year, calendar year

NB – Financial year references your company settings.

Relative (date) with Offset

The creates a “rolling” date setting before or after (the offset) the date the report is viewed
eg – the below is for a Production report that displays Jobs that are due for delivery in the next 3 to 7 days.
As today’s date is Sept 18, the example at the top shows a date range from 21/9 to 25/9

The number field is the offset period.

The following dropdowns provide prompts to build your date formula

  • days, weeks, months, quarters, years
  • before,after
  • start of, end of
  • last, this, next
  • day, week, month, quarter, financial year, calendar year

NB – Financial year references your company settings.

Presets

Presets are predefined parameters to fast track more common “formula” creation.

Choose from a range of settings with Day, Week, Month, Quarter or Year options.

Once selected, click Use this date to apply the desired setting. Brandengine then creates the formula in the required tab for you to check, adjust or use.

Reset

To reset filters on the visible tab for the corresponding From or To row – click Clear date

NB – From and To date sets can be created by combining settings in different tabs
eg – Relative date is used for From ~ Relative date with Offset is used for To

Tip ~
To ensure the data in your “report” is as up to date as possible (especially where multiple BE users are concerned) – please refresh the data with the link in the top right corner of your screen.
