Product Identification Masking

By default Brandengine automatically creates a unique Distributor Item code for each item in your database. This methodology is applied to all incoming items from Promodata and also products you add to your database manually.

Your Distributor’s Item code is made up of 2 elements:

  • The prefix – (eg: YC) which was supplied by your admin during the onboarding process.
  • The suffix – The last 4 digits represents the number of the data record in your database.

This combination creates a unique business specific item code that is then used in quotes. (This code can be hidden in the quote if required)

If you want to apply a different code or name this can be done by Editing the item.

Distributor’s item name

The product name can also be overridden in your database. This will also appear on quotes, but can be changed on a quote by quote basis if required.

By default the suppliers product name will be used.

NB – Regardless if what appears in the Distributor item name and item code fields – the original Supplier information will be used in Purchase Orders.

You are also be able to search for either code in your catalogue.
